Push America- Pi Alpha Society

The Pi Alpha Society was created in 1989 by members of the inaugural Journey of Hope team. These team members realized early on that there was an even greater need for a continual commitment to people with disabilities beyond their participation in a Push America Team Event.

The Pi Alpha Society has grown to over 900 members and is made up of men who have participated in Build America, Gear Up Florida or Journey of Hope Team Events. The Society's mission is to keep its members actively engaged in different roles supporting Push America.

As the Pi Alpha Society grows year after year, so does the impact its members have. Pi Alphas take leadership roles within local chapters, participate in the Ride or Build Along programs, give support to the teams throughout the country and give annually to the organization to ensure other brothers have the same opportunity they were afforded.

Brockport's Eta Lambda chapter boasts seven (7) Pi Alpha's since 1993. Impressively, Bob Czajak is a two time Pi Alpha, doing Gear Up Florida in 2006 and 2007, and Matt Cady is also a two time Pi Alpha, doing Journey of Hope and Gear Up Florida in the same summer in 1999! The most recent recipient is Kyle Rutledge who participated in Gear Up Florida in 2011 and with the help of the Brockport community, he raised $2,350.00 which is the most money ever raised by a Gear Up Florida crew member!
